Jason Hickel is an anthropologist at the London School of Economics specialising in globalisation, finance, democracy, violence, and ritual. He has a PhD from the University of Virginia. His present research focuses on finance in South Africa.
Jason’s first book, Democracy as Death: The Moral Order of Anti-Liberal Politics in South Africa, was published by University of California Press in 2015. He is a frequent contributor to The Guardian, Al Jazeera and online publications.
